Moraine Valley Community College Student Literary Competition Entry Form

Submit your stories, plays, poems and personal essays to Moraine Valley Community College's literary competition by November 1, 2011. First place stories, one act plays, poems and personal essays will each receive $100. Second place entries will receive $50. Third place entries will each receive $25. Finally, authors of the top five pieces in each category will be invited to the Illinois Skyway Writers' Festival. Winners of the Skyway Festival will be sent to the national competition. Students will be recognized at the May 2012 board meeting where they will receive their prize money. Please complete an entry form for each piece submitted via this form, or by sending the piece with all relevant information below to writingcontest@morainevalley.edu.

Submission Guidelines: Students are allowed to submit three (3) creative works. Entries must be original works written during the student's enrollment in credit courses at the college. Submitted works may not appear in any personal blogs, websites or in any printed form.

Maximum Length:

• Short Story — 3,000 words
• One Act Play — 3,000 words, including stage directions and production notes
• Poem — 67 lines
• Personal Essay — 2,000 words
